A major mishap occurred on Sunday night in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, when a boat carrying five youths capsized due to a sudden loss of balance in a pond located at Durgpura village. While three occupants managed to swim to safety following the incident, two others went missing in the deep water. Local authorities and rescue units were immediately mobilized upon receiving information about the accident.
How the Incident Unfolded
According to local administration details, the five individuals hailed from Jhalawar city and had visited the Durgpura village pond for a late-night outing. They boarded a small boat to enjoy a ride across the water body. During the excursion, the vessel suddenly tilted and flipped over, plunging all five occupants directly into the deep water.
Three Swim to Safety, Two Remain Missing
Immediately after falling into the pond, three of the youths used their swimming skills to reach the shore safely. However, their two companions sank into the deeper sections and could not make it out. The missing individuals have been identified as Kallu, a resident of Chanda Maharaj Ki Puliya, and Kantha, a resident of Tabela Road in Jhalawar.
Intensive Search and Rescue Operations
Promptly after the accident was reported, personnel from the Kotwali police station, along with Civil Defence divers and SDRF teams, arrived at the site to launch a comprehensive search operation. Professional divers have been scouring the murky waters since Sunday night, though neither of the missing persons has been located yet.
Anguish Among Families
The sudden turn of events has plunged the families of the missing youths into deep despair, with relatives inconsolable as the search drags on. Anxiety and grief have gripped the entire neighborhood as authorities persist with their efforts to locate the victims in the pond.
