A road accident near Bhadkol bus stand in Alwar's Malakhera area on Monday left the local community in shock after a speeding vehicle rammed into two men riding a motorcycle. The impact was so severe that both riders died instantly, with no chance of survival. The deceased were later identified as Ram Singh Saini and Karan Singh Yadav.
Crowds gathered within minutes
News of the crash spread quickly, drawing people from nearby villages to Bhadkol bus stand. The sudden deaths of two young men triggered outrage across the area. Family members and villagers refused to let the bodies be moved, instead laying them on the road and staging a sit-in on the Malakhera-Laxmangarh route. Within a short time, long lines of vehicles built up on both sides of the road, and the blockade lasted roughly six hours. Roadways buses, government employees on their way to work, local residents and ordinary commuters all got caught up in the disruption, with many forced to take alternative routes to reach their destinations.
A milk seller caught in the collision
According to initial information, one of the men was on his motorcycle at the time delivering milk when a speeding Maruti car struck the bike from behind. The force of the collision also caught another person who was standing nearby. Both suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The car's driver fled immediately after the crash, which further inflamed the anger among villagers gathered there.
Families demand Rs 50 lakh compensation each
During the protest, the families of the two victims and the villagers who had gathered placed a set of demands before officials. They asked for Rs 50 lakh in compensation for each deceased person's family, a contractual government job for one member of each family, access to benefits under eligible government schemes, and insurance and other claims to be settled as per rules. The protesters held firm on these demands and kept the bodies on the road until officials arrived at the spot.
Road reopens after officials intervene
On being informed of the situation, Malakhera Sub-Divisional Officer Pinky Gurjar reached the site. She was joined by the tehsildar, the local police station officer, other police officials and the rural Deputy Superintendent of Police. Officials held extended talks with the grieving families and villagers, assuring them that appropriate action would be taken on their demands. After several rounds of negotiation, the villagers agreed to lift the blockade, allowing traffic on the Malakhera-Laxmangarh route to return to normal. Police have opened an investigation into the accident and are searching for the vehicle and its driver, who remains at large.
