Gavri begins on the day after Rakshabandhan, specifically on the first lunar day of the dark fortnight of Bhadrapada, known as Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Ekam. Following this inauguration, Gavri performances are staged across various villages in Mewar for a duration of roughly a quarter over a month.
