Escalating conflicts with aggressive monkey troops have prompted the residents of Khoh-Dariba village, situated in the Tehla area of Rajasthan's Alwar district, to organize an active community intervention. Over recent months, a sharp rise in the simian population and their disruptive activities had severely hampered daily routines. Faced with relentless disturbances, villagers collaborated at the gram panchayat level to launch a targeted drive aimed at trapping the primates.
Panchayat Drive Traps 50 Primates for Safe Relocation
Under this organized initiative, approximately 50 monkeys have been successfully captured so far. According to community members, all the trapped animals were safely transported and released into alternative, secure habitats well away from residential settlements. The operation remains active on the ground, with teams continuing their efforts to catch the remaining monkeys roaming through the locality.
Ransacked Kitchens and Growing Safety Risks for Children
Locals pointed out that roving bands of monkeys had created persistent turmoil across the village streets. Without showing any fear of human presence, the animals frequently barged into homes to seize food supplies and other domestic items. Furthermore, villagers highlighted multiple distressing incidents where aggressive monkeys attacked and bit young children.
Persistent Fear Prompts Decisive Local Action
The rampant presence of these animals generated widespread panic among residents, making people hesitant even to step out of their homes. Parents, in particular, avoided allowing children outside unattended due to the continuous threat of sudden attacks. Given the long-standing nature of the issue, villagers decided to address it systematically through local panchayat channels, striving to restore peace, security, and safety to the neighborhood.
