Established in 2024, Cal AI quickly captured the digital landscape largely driven by founder Yadegari's calculated approach of deploying a network of digital creators to champion the brand. The enterprise generated upwards of $30 million in revenue across a two-year span and was acquired by MyFitnessPal in March for an undisclosed financial figure.
Scaling Through Digital Creators
Detailing his social strategy during a public appearance, Yadegari explained that the earliest indicator of traction arrived when a creator's post brought in roughly a thousand new users across a span of two days. He noted that once they realized the model worked, they began recruiting creators rapidly. According to him, the formula was straightforward and linear, where every published post consistently drove a predictable conversion of viewers.
Negotiating With College Students
The Forbes 30 Under 30 alumnus shared that part of the company playbook involved negotiating customized rates with creators, promising specific compensation tied to reach milestones. He added that many of these creators are college students who simply want cash, making it easy to establish agreements based on guaranteed performance metrics and ongoing posting requirements.
Targeted Communities and Family Support
Another vital pillar of growth was identifying creators who possessed tightly knit, quantifiable audiences. Yadegari, whose father was present in the audience, credited his family for giving him the autonomy to pursue his ambitions. When asked about formal education, however, he expressed skepticism, joking that the primary reason to attend college is simply to enjoy a social life among peers.
Launching Persona and Future Plans
Earlier this month, Yadegari also debuted Persona, a new AI agent startup that has already secured $10 million in funding. He explained that the overarching mission for the new venture is to integrate computing seamlessly into everyday human life. The upcoming personal AI assistant is designed to operate anywhere with internet connectivity, spanning messaging apps, emails, and phone calls, alongside plans to build a dedicated hardware ecosystem around the application.
