In Jehanabad district of Bihar, 27-year-old Suraj Kumar has demonstrated how persistent hard work and smart financial management can turn a modest roadside tea stall into a thriving restaurant business. After dedicatedly working at his family's tea shop for nearly two decades, Suraj has successfully funded and launched a traditional highway dhaba near Kadona using only the savings accumulated from selling tea.
Stepping Up to Help His Father in 2007
Suraj's journey began shortly after he completed his Intermediate education. Back in 2007, his father was struggling to manage the daily operations of their small tea stall in Shyam Nagar, Jehanabad. Recognizing the family's needs, Suraj stepped in to assist his father. From morning until evening, he dedicated his time to learning the business from scratch under his father's guidance.
Flavor Innovations and Building a Local Brand
As Suraj spent more time running the tea shop, he looked for ways to stand out in the local market. Rather than offering standard tea, he experimented by introducing different tea flavors. This unique approach resonated strongly with local customers, earning him widespread popularity across the city. Over 19 years of continuous operation, his innovation and consistent service translated into steady customer loyalty and substantial daily earnings.
Establishing Suraj Da Dhaba Near Kadona
Leveraging 19 years of hands-on experience and capital accumulated strictly through tea sales, Suraj decided to expand into the food and hospitality sector. He selected a strategic location near Kadona and established 'Suraj Da Dhaba'. Designed with an authentic traditional desi aesthetic, the eatery boasts an attractive exterior that catches the eye of passing travelers. Despite facing several operational ups and downs over the years, his disciplined savings made this large-scale investment possible.
Customer First Philosophy and Growth Outlook
Reflecting on his growth, Suraj shared that when he joined his father's tea stall in 2007, he never imagined achieving such a major milestone. He credits his accomplishment to his father's invaluable advice and his own unyielding work ethic. Suraj firmly believes that customers are like God and treats everyone who visits his establishment as family. Looking ahead, he remains determined to expand his business even further.
