Forty-seven-year-old Ramabai Randhir, a resident of Ambajogai, took part in the Amrut Daud marathon organized to mark the diamond jubilee year of the Kholeshwer Educational Complex. Remarkably, she did not undergo any formal training or preparation for the race. Despite running completely barefoot, she outpaced others to secure the first position in the competition.
Following her inspiring victory, Ramabai was awarded a cash prize of 3,000 rupees. The reward brought immense joy to her, and she immediately stated that the prize money would go directly toward paying her daughters academic fees. Her triumphant yet humble feat deeply touched the spectators present at the venue, drawing widespread praise from all quarters.
Bearing Family Responsibilities Alone After Husbands Death
Ramabai has faced profound hardships following the death of her husband, after which she took absolute responsibility for raising and educating her two daughters. Originally from Hingoli, she relocated to Ambajogai specifically to ensure her daughters receive a proper education. To support her household and fund their academic expenses, she works as a cook at an educational academy.
Her two daughters are pursuing ambitious goals, with one currently enrolled in a B.Sc. degree program while the other is preparing for police recruitment examinations. Reflecting on her experience after crossing the finish line, Ramabai noted that while she constantly runs around every day for daily chores and her children's upbringing, this particular race was run entirely for the cherished dream of shaping her daughters' futures.
