Sagar Regar, a student residing in Godalyahedi village near Kaithoon town in Rajasthan's Kota district, has achieved an extraordinary success in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) despite daunting financial constraints. Coming from a family where his father earns a livelihood by collecting scrap from door to door, Sagar scored 564 marks with a 98.6296 percentile in NEET UG. He secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 27157 and achieved an SC category rank of 684. Sagar completed his schooling at a government school in Kaithoon, where he previously scored 76 percent in Class 10 and 92 percent in Class 12. His accomplishment has brought immense pride to his family and local community.
Personal Tragedy and the Resolve to Become a Doctor
Sagar's path to success was shaped by a poignant family tragedy that transformed his personal ambition into a mission for broader social awareness. Hailing from a large family where most members are illiterate, Sagar observed how the lack of education led several relatives into substance addiction. The major turning point occurred when his paternal aunt's daughter developed cancer due to gutkha consumption. The shock of this illness deeply affected Sagar and made him realize that education is the most potent weapon against social evils and health hazards. Driven by this realization, he resolved to become a doctor not only to deliver healthcare but also to educate his family and community about leading an addiction-free life.
Financial Constraints and Crucial School Mentorship
Sagar's father, Murli Regar, feeds his family by gathering scrap daily, while his mother, a housewife educated up to Class 8, assists her husband in sorting the collected materials. The family lives in a small two-room house. Sagar has two younger sisters: Mansi, who is currently studying Biology in Class 12, and Ishika, who is in Class 10. Murli Regar shared that while Sagar harbored a dream of becoming a doctor since childhood, the family lacked the money required for expensive private entrance coaching. Recognizing the boy's dedication, the principal of the Government School in Kaithoon guided Sagar, informing him about the ALLEN Shiksha Sambal initiative and motivating him to take the selection exam.
Free Coaching, Boarding, and Community Transformation
After qualifying for the scholarship program, Sagar received full academic and financial backing. Under the ALLEN Shiksha Sambal scheme, he was provided free NEET coaching in Kota, while the LN Maheshwari Parmarth Nyas arranged free lodging and meals for him. Sagar acknowledged that without this intervention, severe financial constraints would have forced him to abandon his medical dream and enroll in a standard B.Sc. course instead. Although his father is illiterate and his mother completed school only up to Class 8, both parents consistently supported his ambitions. Naveen Maheshwari, Trustee of the LN Maheshwari Parmarth Nyas and Founder of ALLEN, stated that the initiative aims to empower bright Hindi-medium government school students, enabling their success to inspire entire communities and drive long-term societal progress.
