Google has significantly enhanced the utility of its search AI Mode for travel planning by rolling out several new features. These additions aim to reduce the need for users to constantly jump between multiple websites and applications just to organize a trip. By bringing tools like flight price monitoring, reward points comparison, and hotel discovery directly into the search experience, the company is streamlining how people plan their journeys. However, availability for some of these newly introduced capabilities remains restricted depending on the specific country and language.
Track Flight Prices Seamlessly Through AI Mode
As part of this update, the established Google Flights price tracking functionality has been integrated directly into AI Mode. Users can now simply converse with the AI to track airfares for a specific route and set of dates without navigating away. A traveler only needs to provide their departure and arrival locations, travel dates, and other pertinent details to get started. The AI Mode then aggregates available options and current rates drawn from a network of over 300 partner airlines and travel websites.
If a user initiates price tracking, they will receive email alerts whenever the airfare fluctuates. According to Google, this specific tracking feature is currently live across more than 180 countries and territories worldwide. Once a suitable flight is identified, the actual ticket booking must still be finalized on the respective airline or preferred booking platform's website. This setup keeps all the research in one place while leaving the final transaction secure with the provider.
Find Flights and Hotels Using Loyalty Points and Miles
For travelers holding accumulated points or miles through various loyalty programs, the AI tool now assists in figuring out exactly how many points or miles will be needed for a specific trip. Users simply need to supply their trip details along with the specific loyalty program they wish to utilize. This functionality extends to hotel bookings as well, allowing travelers to redeem their rewards directly through partner websites.
Google confirmed that this points and miles feature is available globally, currently supporting major partners such as Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, and Hilton hotel resorts. Furthermore, support for Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines, and the Lufthansa Group is scheduled to be added soon, broadening the scope of redeemable options for frequent flyers and loyal guests.
Discover and Compare Hotels with Ease
Google has also introduced comprehensive hotel booking capabilities within AI Mode. Travelers can search for accommodations by specifying their destination, travel dates, and individual preferences regarding amenities or location. The AI interface displays individual hotel options alongside guest reviews and essential details, making side-by-side comparisons straightforward.
Once a preferred hotel is selected, users can ask AI Mode for assistance with the booking process. At present, this dedicated hotel booking feature is available in English within the United States. With these travel enhancements integrated into AI Mode, Google Search transforms from a simple information lookup tool into a comprehensive assistant capable of handling everything from monitoring airfares to selecting accommodations and managing trip itineraries in a single interface.
