Bharti Airtel has introduced three new mobile recharge offerings tailored exclusively for voice calling and text messaging, completely omitting internet data. Rolled out in compliance with directives from telecom regulator TRAI, these plans cater directly to mobile subscribers who rely on their handsets solely for making calls and sending messages, sparing them from paying for unwanted internet bundles.
Three Distinct Price Points and Validity Periods
The entry-level option in this newly launched lineup is priced at Rs 185, providing users with an active validity span of 28 days. Subscribers seeking slightly longer coverage can opt for the intermediate plan priced at Rs 203, which offers a fixed 30-day validity window.
Additionally, the company has introduced a calendar-based option priced at Rs 206, structured to deliver exactly one month of active service. This means the plan remains operational throughout the entire billing month regardless of whether that specific calendar month contains 28, 30, or 31 days.
Unlimited Voice Calls and Allocation of 300 Text Messages
All three tariff options share an identical core feature set, delivering unlimited voice calling across networks alongside an overall allowance of 300 SMS for the entire duration of the recharge. Mobile internet connectivity is completely excluded from each tier.
By deliberately leaving out data allowances, the telecom provider aims to provide a cost-effective solution for basic feature phone users and voice-centric consumers. Customers who have no requirement for web browsing can now avoid higher bundled charges and select an option designed purely for communication.
Regulatory Deadline Approaching for Industry Peers
The telecom regulator TRAI had formally proposed this tariff framework one month ago, instructing all mobile network operators to introduce dedicated calling and texting options within a 30-day window ending on October 21.
While Bharti Airtel has moved early to establish its new offerings, competitors Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea are also required to launch their respective voice and SMS packs before the October 21 deadline expires.
