Alfie Hewett, who enters the tournament as the number two seed and a four-time champion at Flushing Meadows, dropped only two games during a dominant 6-0 6-2 victory against Spain's Daniel Caverzaschi. To secure a place in the semi-finals, Alfie Hewett will next face American player Casey Ratzlaff.
Gordon Reid triumphs in a tough contest
Meanwhile, Gordon Reid experienced a much closer battle in his match against Frenchman Stephane Houdet, with the Scottish competitor ultimately prevailing 6-3 5-7 6-2 after a grueling encounter lasting two hours and 13 minutes. Up next for Gordon Reid is a formidable test against defending champion and top seed Tokito Oda of Japan, who has captured the past six consecutive Grand Slam singles titles.
Quad singles results and doubles progress
In other tournament action on Wednesday, Andy Lapthorne and Greg Slade were both eliminated in the opening round of the quad singles competition. Andy Lapthorne suffered a 6-2 6-1 defeat against top seed Niels Vink of the Netherlands, while Greg Slade was beaten 6-4 6-2 by Argentina's Gonzalo Lazarte. Despite the singles exit, Andy Lapthorne remains active in the quad doubles tournament, having advanced to the semi-finals alongside his South African partner Leon Els.
