A tragic incident has unfolded in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a 14-year-old schoolgirl lost her life after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building. The unfortunate event took place on September 25 at the Rajnagar Residency society located in the Rajnagar Extension area. The sudden demise of the youngster has plunged her family and the entire neighborhood into deep grief. The deceased has been identified as Prachi Rajput, a class 9 student studying at DDPS School located in Sanjay Nagar. Alongside her academics, she was actively engaged in sports and extracurricular activities.
The incident occurred while collecting dried laundry
According to details surrounding the incident, the tragedy struck on the night of September 25 at around 9 PM. Prachi had stepped out onto the balcony of her home to collect clothes that had been put out to dry. During this time, she slipped or fell from the 12th floor under unclear circumstances. Hearing a loud thud upon impact, residents of the society rushed to the spot immediately. Family members and local residents quickly transported her in a critical condition to the Yashoda Hospital in Sanjay Nagar, where attending doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. At the time of the incident, her parents, younger sister, and paternal grandparents were all present inside the apartment. The unexpected tragedy has left the household devastated.
Won national gold medals just days prior
The tragedy struck just days after the family was celebrating a major milestone. Prachi had recently returned home after participating in the CBSE National Rope Skipping Championship held in Shirdi, Maharashtra. During the national event, she delivered an exceptional performance and bagged gold medals in both the double dutch pair freestyle and double dutch single freestyle categories. Her stellar achievement had brought immense joy and pride to her family and school. Her father, Suresh Chand, works as a software engineer with a multinational corporation.
Police investigating all possible angles
Following the receipt of information regarding the incident, local law enforcement authorities arrived at the location to initiate a probe. Nandgram ACP Jiyauddin Ahmad stated that a police team reached the spot promptly and commenced the inquiry. Initial investigations indicate that the student fell from the balcony, though the exact circumstances leading to the fall remain unclear at this stage. Authorities are examining the matter from all possible angles, including an accidental fall and other possibilities. Police officials noted that the actual cause of the incident will be definitively established once the formal investigation is concluded.
