Police in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing crackdown on illegal cattle slaughter with the arrest of a wanted suspect carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000. The operation took place under the jurisdiction of the Doghat police station following an armed encounter in which the accused sustained gunshot injuries. Officers immediately moved the injured suspect to a nearby hospital for medical treatment after taking him into custody.
Informant Tip-Off Leads to Armed Encounter in Milana Jungle
According to police statements, a special team from the Doghat police station was conducting routine patrols and checking operations in the area when they received specific intelligence from an informant. The tip indicated that Wajid, the son of Bhura and a resident of Fauladnagar village, was hiding in the jungle near Milana village. Acting promptly on the information, law enforcement personnel deployed to the location and established a cordon around the forest area. Realizing he was surrounded, Wajid attempted to flee and opened fire on the police team. In response, officers fired back in self-defense, wounding the suspect in the leg before disarming and arresting him on the spot.
Seizure of Illegal Firearm, Ammunition, and Motorcycle
Following the encounter, police recovered several items used by the suspect at the scene. Authorities seized an illegal.315 bore pistol along with one live cartridge and two spent shell casings. Additionally, officers impounded a TVS Radion motorcycle bearing registration number UP17V 8469, which the accused was using at the time of the incident. Law enforcement officials have included these seized items as key material evidence in the registered case and are verifying the ownership records of the motorcycle.
Background of the Fauladnagar Cattle Slaughter Case
The case stems from an incident reported on 28 July 2026 in Fauladnagar village, located within the Doghat police station area. Authorities registered a case after discovering the remains of a prohibited animal at the site. Prior to Wajid's capture, police had already arrested two other individuals linked to the crime, including a female suspect and another wanted accused named Javed. Wajid had remained at large since the incident, prompting Baghpat police to announce a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Strict Police Action Against Organized Crime
The arrest forms part of a broader drive against criminal elements conducted under the supervision of Baghpat Superintendent of Police Suraj Rai. Providing details of the operation, Baraut Circle Officer Anshu Jain emphasized that law enforcement agencies maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward cattle slaughter and organized criminal activities. Officer Jain affirmed that stern action will continue against all absconding suspects involved in such offenses, adding that further legal proceedings against Wajid are currently underway.
