Serious safety concerns have been raised regarding revered Vrindavan spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj, prompting formal appeals for immediate governmental intervention. Dinesh Sharma, head of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, has dispatched an urgent communication to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The letter stresses that robust protective measures must be deployed around the seer due to a worsening environment and looming threats from rogue syndicates operating nearby.
Allegations of Internal Rifts and Infiltration by Land Mafias
According to Dinesh Sharma, the spiritual establishment has effectively splintered into two opposing camps. He stated that one faction comprises authentic ascetics who adhere strictly to spiritual discipline, performing devotional chanting and penance along the banks of the Yamuna River. This location sits roughly 20 kilometres away from the central ashram, where followers dedicate themselves to meditation under the spiritual guidance of Premanand Maharaj.
Conversely, grave accusations have been levelled against the rival faction. Sharma alleged that this secondary group has been infiltrated by unscrupulous land syndicates and child trafficking operatives. According to his account, these anti-social elements have seized administrative authority over roughly 15 auxiliary ashram properties linked to the main institution. Sharma cautioned that this criminal nexus poses a genuine physical threat to the safety of Premanand Maharaj.
Claims of Illicit Fortunes Built by Selling Floodplain Plots
The communication sent to the government insists that a thorough inquiry must be initiated into the network's financial dealings. Sharma asserted that the rogue faction amassed immense fortunes running into billions by unlawfully selling prime land situated in the Yamuna Khadar floodplains. To safeguard these vast illicit assets, the syndicate is allegedly resorting to coercive tactics.
Expressing deep faith in the state administration, Sharma praised the Chief Minister as an ardent protector of spiritual figures. Sharma remarked, "We are confident that he will certainly provide security to Maharaj." He maintained that Premanand Maharaj has guided countless Sanatan Hindu followers along righteous paths, making his personal security an issue of profound national significance. Sharma further noted that instances of hooliganism, targeted violence against ascetics, and missing minor cases have seen an alarming rise in the area.
Fatal Fall of Disciple and Disturbing Post-Mortem Findings
Tensions escalated dramatically following a recent tragedy on the premises. On 25 September 2026, a 25-year-old devotee named Deepak Lodhi, also known by his spiritual moniker Rasik Dulari Sharan, died after falling from the fourth floor of a building in Vrindavan. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement agencies launched an investigation while forensic teams gathered physical evidence from the site.
The post-mortem examination revealed severe bodily trauma. The inquiry gained critical urgency after autopsy reports documented multiple abrasions across the body, along with specific lacerations and injuries to the private parts. Confronted with these unsettling forensic revelations, family members and several fellow monks have demanded an impartial, high-level probe into the exact circumstances surrounding the fatality.
Reports of Disappearances and Police Interventions
In addition to the fatal incident, concerns have mounted over recent disappearance cases tied to the complex. Family members of a 16-year-old youth named Anuj staged demonstrations outside the ashram gates, alleging that the teenager vanished shortly after receiving spiritual initiation. Ashram representatives stated their willingness to assist investigating officers. Subsequently, Barsana police located the minor unharmed on Saturday at the Ladli Das Ashram situated along Radha Bagh Marg and reunited him with his protesting relatives.
Meanwhile, another unresolved case involves a 35-year-old woman from Noida who has been missing since 15 August. Her relatives suspect that she might have travelled to Vrindavan to seek the blessings of Premanand Maharaj. However, official authorities have yet to confirm whether she ever visited or stayed at the ashram facility.
