MEERUT: Following the death penalty handed down to Sahil and Muskan in the high-profile blue drum murder case, all eyes in Meerut are now fixed on the verdict and sentencing in the Amit Kashyap murder trial. A local court in Meerut is scheduled to pronounce the quantum of sentence shortly for Ravita and her paramour Amardeep, who hatched a calculated plot to kill her husband and tried to mask the homicide as a fatal snake bite. Ravita, in active connivance with Amardeep, orchestrated the gruesome murder of Amit Kashyap before manufacturing a drama surrounding snake envenomation.
Court Has Already Convicted Ravita and Amardeep
The protracted legal proceedings in this chilling case culminated after traversing 87 hearing dates and the recording of testimonies from 12 key witnesses. Having thoroughly evaluated the evidence on record, the court previously pronounced Amit Kashyap's wife Ravita and her lover Amardeep guilty of the charges. The murder took place on the intervening night of April 12 and 13, 2025, within the jurisdiction of the Behsuma police station area in Akbar Sadatpur village, where Ravita and Amardeep strangled Amit Kashyap to death before placing a snake near his lifeless body to mislead investigators.
Both Accused Imprisoned for 17 Months
In the immediate aftermath of the crime, when police prepared to dispatch the corpse for an autopsy, Ravita fiercely resisted the move and resorted to intimidating family members. However, the victim's family members harbored strong suspicions from the outset that Ravita and Amardeep were behind the killing. The postmortem examination report subsequently confirmed death by asphyxiation due to strangulation, prompting authorities to arrest both culprits. The murderous wife and her lover have spent approximately 17 months incarcerated inside the Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail awaiting today's judicial verdict.
Chronology of the Calculated Conspiracy
The deceased Amit Kashyap was a resident of Akbarpur Sadat village under the Behsuma police station limits. Amardeep worked as a tile and stone installation artisan and frequently visited Amit's household for professional reasons. During these visits, Amardeep and Ravita grew intimate and initiated an illicit romantic affair. When Amit discovered their clandestine relationship, he raised strong objections, following which Ravita and Amardeep conspired to eliminate him permanently.
To execute their sinister plan, the duo procured a live snake from a snake charmer for the sum of 1,000 rupees. On the night of April 17, while Amit was fast asleep, Ravita stealthily invited Amardeep into the house. They executed the murder and subsequently released the snake onto the bed to fabricate a natural accident. Ravita then sent her lover away and retired to a separate room to sleep. The following morning, when relatives awoke, they discovered Amit dead with multiple marks resembling snake bites on his body, leading them to initially believe he had succumbed to a reptile strike.
The body was dispatched for a postmortem examination, which revealed ten distinct snake bite marks on the corpse. However, when the final autopsy report was released five days later, it completely shattered the fabricated narrative by establishing definitively that Amit did not die from venom, but rather from mechanical asphyxiation. This critical medical finding exposed the elaborate deception and led directly to the arrest and prosecution of both individuals.
