A disturbing case of murder driven by resentment over unemployment taunts has come to light in the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. Upset over being constantly mocked regarding his financial situation and lack of work, a young man plotted a deadly revenge against his roommate and content creator friend, ultimately dumping the victim's body hundreds of kilometers away down a steep hill in neighboring Madhya Pradesh to destroy evidence. Prayagraj police successfully cracked the case following a swift investigation, placing all three accused individuals under arrest.
Resentment over Unemployment Taunts Triggers Fatal Plot
The victim, identified as Alok Gupta, worked as a professional photographer and digital content creator. He resided in a rented accommodation in the Harwara locality under the jurisdiction of Dhoomanganj police station in Prayagraj. Living with him in the same apartment was his acquaintance, Shubham Yadav. Investigation revealed that Alok earned a respectable livelihood and maintained a comfortable lifestyle. In stark contrast, Shubham was unemployed and struggling financially. Allegations suggest that Alok frequently made derogatory remarks and jokes about Shubham's unemployed status. Over time, these persistent taunts bred intense jealousy, humiliation, and deep-seated animosity in Shubham's mind, which eventually culminated in a sinister murder plan.
Shooting Inside Rented Room and Disposal Across State Lines
Driven by revenge, Shubham Yadav enlisted the help of two of his close associates to execute the crime. According to law enforcement findings, the trio ambushed Alok Gupta inside the rented room in Harwara and shot him dead on the spot. Immediately following the fatal shooting, the three accused devised a plan to eliminate all physical evidence and evade detection. They packed Alok's body inside a large travel bag, loaded it into a car, and drove toward the state boundary of Madhya Pradesh. Upon reaching the isolated terrain of Suhagi hill, they threw the bag containing the body off the cliff, hoping it would remain hidden in the dense valley below.
CCTV Footage and Unidentified Body Lead to Breakthrough
Meanwhile, when Alok Gupta suddenly went missing and failed to respond to calls, his worried family members lodged a formal missing person complaint at the Dhoomanganj police station. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the police initiated an immediate inquiry and scanned surveillance footage from CCTV cameras installed around the Harwara neighborhood. Upon analyzing the visual records, investigators spotted Shubham Yadav and his two companions carefully placing a bulky bag into their vehicle. This discovery provided police with their first critical lead. Simultaneously, police received official communication from neighboring Madhya Pradesh regarding an unidentified body recovered near the hilly terrain. Alok's family members were brought in to identify the remains, confirming the body to be that of Alok Gupta.
Technical Evidence Leads to Arrests and Recovery of Weapon
Providing details of the successful operation, DCP City Sagar Jain stated that law enforcement agencies used mobile location tracking, call records, and electronic surveillance to trace and apprehend Shubham Yadav along with his two accomplices. During interrogation, Shubham reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that constant humiliation regarding his lack of employment had pushed him to plan the murder. Police have recovered the pistol used in committing the offense as well as the motor vehicle utilized for transporting and dumping the body. Further legal proceedings against all three suspects are currently underway in accordance with established judicial procedures.
