A shocking crime has come to light from Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh, where the priest of an ancient Sankat Mochan temple located in Phool Bagh, under the jurisdiction of Jaitpur police outpost in the Kulpahar Kotwali area, was brutally murdered. The priest's blood soaked body was found inside the temple premises, triggering panic among nearby villagers who gathered at the spot in large numbers.
Senior police officers rush to the spot, cite important leads
As soon as news of the murder spread, senior police officials from Mahoba reached the temple and carried out a detailed inspection of the crime scene. Officers indicated that the investigation has already turned up some important clues that could help crack the case soon. The police team has also been directed to solve the case at the earliest. The priest's body has been taken into custody and sent for a postmortem examination, while a forensic team has been roped in to assist with the probe.
Who was priest Udit Narayan Mishra
Additional Superintendent of Police, Mahoba, Vandana Singh, who reached the spot, briefed the media on the case. According to her, the deceased priest was identified as Udit Narayan Mishra, a resident of Hamirpur district. He had been living at the temple premises and performing daily prayers there for close to 15 years. The ancient shrine is also locally known as the Sankat Nivaran Hanuman temple.
Vandana Singh further stated that priest Udit Narayan Mishra was addicted to consuming ganja. Given the seriousness of the case, the police team is actively working to gather evidence from the scene.
Forensic team speeds up the investigation
According to police, the forensic team's assistance has helped uncover several important leads in the case. The priest's body has already been sent for postmortem, while questioning of people living in the surrounding area is underway. Footage from CCTV cameras installed around the temple is also being examined to identify anyone who may have been present at the time of the murder. Police officials have expressed confidence that the case will soon be cracked and the accused arrested and sent to jail.
