Tragic End to a Love Story in Sitapur
A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Rampur Khewta village, located within the jurisdiction of the Sandana police station in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. A young couple, deeply in love but facing intense societal pressure due to caste differences, chose to end their lives. According to reports received by TrendKia, the pair had been missing since Friday evening and were found dead the following morning, leaving the entire local community in deep shock.
Marriage Rituals Performed Before the Final Act
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Priyanvansh and 19-year-old Rajni. The two had been in a relationship for a long time, but their families and society opposed their union because of their different castes. Priyanvansh belonged to the Arakh caste, while Rajni was from the Nai community.
The situation escalated when Rajni's family arranged her marriage elsewhere against her will. The pre-wedding tilak ceremony had already been completed, leaving the couple in extreme mental distress. Seeing no future together in a society bound by caste barriers, they disappeared from their homes on Friday evening.
On Saturday morning, local villagers made a chilling discovery. The bodies of the young man and woman were found hanging from a tree outside the village, suspended from two separate loops of a single dupatta. Below the tree, police found clear signs of a wedding ceremony. Ritual items such as vermilion, bindi, and other bridal cosmetics were scattered on the ground. There were distinct footprints around the tree trunk suggesting they had taken their wedding rounds (pheres) around it. Rajni's hair partition was also freshly filled with vermilion, indicating they married each other under the tree before taking the fatal step.
Police Launch Investigation
Upon receiving the news, a police team led by Mishrikh CO Brijesh Kumar rushed to the spot along with a large force. To ensure no evidence was missed, a forensic team was summoned to collect fingerprints and other critical clues from the scene. The police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for a post-mortem examination. TrendKia reports that a detailed investigation is currently underway to ascertain all aspects of the case.
