A significant investigation is currently underway at the Badrinath Dham following serious allegations regarding the mismanagement of temple donations and offerings. In a decisive move by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), a formal police complaint has been filed at the Badrinath police station against Pramod Nautiyal, who served as a personal assistant in the office of the committee chairman. The police have registered this FIR under sections 306 and 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Prior to this legal action, Nautiyal, who was designated as the officer responsible for the counting of offerings and temple protocol, was officially placed under suspension on Tuesday. Authorities are continuing their probe to establish the facts behind the reported financial irregularities.
Restoring Temple Sanctity and Governance
In response to the growing public concern and the need to uphold the spiritual sanctity of the Badrinath Dham, the temple management has implemented stringent new regulations. A key decision has been taken to prohibit the installation of any newspaper signboards or external commercial displays within the sacred temple premises. Complying with these new norms, two such signboards belonging to daily newspapers were removed from the complex late on Tuesday night. Following similar reports of donation thefts at the Ram Mandir, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has issued fresh directives aimed at enhancing the security of devotees' offerings. These measures are intended to establish a more transparent and robust oversight mechanism to prevent future instances of theft or administrative malpractice.
