The Pushkar Singh Dhami administration in Dehradun has taken a significant initiative regarding the future of Agniveers who are set to complete their tenure in the Indian armed forces. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has formally approved a proposal to adjust the first batch of two Agniveers from Uttarakhand, who will retire from military service in November 2026, against available vacant positions in the 40th Battalion PAC. This move is designed to create structured employment pathways within the state for soldiers after their military service concludes.
Dedicated Welfare Cell for Retiring Personnel
To further support those leaving military service, the state administration has established a separate welfare cell. This dedicated unit will work specifically toward providing post-retirement employment assistance and other necessary support to the returning Agniveers, ensuring a smoother transition back into civilian and professional life within the state.
Quadrupling Women Constable Positions
In addition to measures for military veterans, the administration has introduced a major expansion aimed at enhancing female representation within the state police force. The total number of female constable positions across Uttarakhand police has been substantially raised from 526 to 2,000. This adjustment translates to an expansion of nearly four times the original capacity for women in the ranks.
Strengthening Law Enforcement Capacities
The notable increase in female constable slots is expected to create better professional advancement avenues for women within the department. Officials note that bolstering female participation in law enforcement will contribute to a more robust and capable police apparatus across the region. With the initial approval for the first batch of two Agniveers to join the PAC and the dramatic expansion of women police personnel, these combined policy decisions aim to expand local career opportunities while strengthening public security infrastructure.
