Legal complications are rapidly multiplying for Urmila Sanawar, who previously drew widespread public attention over the alleged VIP controversy in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Continuous legal actions are being initiated against her in response to various statements and video clips shared across social media platforms. With the registration of yet another case at the Dehradun Kotwali Nagar police station, the total number of criminal cases registered against Urmila Sanawar has now reached approximately one dozen. In connection with one of these ongoing matters, the Haridwar police took formal action and sent her to jail on Sunday.
Extortion Allegations And Land Pressure Claims
The case that resulted in her imprisonment in Haridwar stems from a complaint filed by Deepika Rathore, the daughter of former MLA Suresh Rathore, with whom Sanawar has been engaged in a prolonged public dispute. According to the police complaint, serious allegations were leveled accusing Urmila Sanawar of attempting to extort five crore rupees and exerting intense pressure to have the land belonging to Ravidas Dham transferred into her own name. This long-standing feud has now escalated into major criminal proceedings.
Fresh Case Filed At Dehradun Kotwali
In addition to the developments in Haridwar, a fresh case has been officially registered at the Dehradun city Kotwali. This new matter involves the alleged broadcast of objectionable and defamatory remarks on social media targeting Sikkim Governor Dushyant Kumar Gautam, B.L. Santhosh, who is associated with the BJP national organization, and Aarti Gaur. The complaint was lodged by Sagar, a resident of Moti Bazar who is affiliated with the Hindu Raksha Dal.
Controversy Surrounding Video Outside CBI Court
According to the details mentioned in the formal complaint, a video recorded outside the CBI court located on Haridwar Road has been widely circulated across various social media platforms. The complainant alleges that the footage shows Urmila Sanawar standing in front of media cameras and microphones and leveling personal accusations against Sikkim Governor Dushyant Kumar Gautam, B.L. Santhosh, and Aarti Gaur.
Concerns Over Social Discord And Defamation
The complainant pointed out that no judicial orders or official documents have been produced in support of the allegations made in the video statements. It is argued that such remarks not only damage the personal and social reputation of the individuals named but also create potential risks of public confusion, anger, and communal discord within society.
Police Invoke Multiple Sections And Probe Social Media Spread
Acting on the complaint, local authorities have registered an FIR under Sections 79, 352, 353, and 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Under the instructions of Station House Officer Kailash Chandra Bhatt, the investigation has been officially assigned to Sub-Inspector Rakesh Rawat. Investigators are currently examining the digital content of the video, its distribution channels on social media, and the involvement of any other individuals who may have aided its spread. The police probe will also evaluate the exact context in which the video was recorded and the legal nature of the statements made within it.
