Administrative and political activities have gained significant momentum across Uttarakhand in anticipation of the upcoming 2027 assembly elections. The election machinery has stepped up preparations, announcing a crucial update regarding the state voter list, which is officially scheduled for release on November 12. This upcoming publication marks a vital step in streamlining the electoral rolls well ahead of the polling schedule.
To ensure thorough coordination, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam convened a high-level meeting with authorized representatives of recognized national political parties. During this detailed discussion, officials reviewed the comprehensive guidelines set by the Election Commission of India, focusing extensively on upcoming poll preparations and the systematic revision of voter credentials across the state.
In a move aimed at maintaining strict transparency throughout the administrative process, the first-level checking of Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails has officially commenced across every district in the state. Authorized agents from various political factions have been actively included in this technical verification phase to guarantee a completely fair, open, and reliable electoral exercise.
A special summary revision campaign is currently underway to accommodate young citizens who will attain the age of 18 by January 1, 2027, allowing them to register and include their names in the voter rolls. The election department clarified that once the draft voter list is published on November 12, citizens will have the opportunity to submit claims and objections for adding, deleting, or correcting any details. During the recent special registration drive, authorities received a total of 1,00,744 applications under Form-6 for new voter additions.
