Previous Crude Bomb Blast in Malda Orchard
Such alarming incidents of explosives turning up in public spaces are not isolated in West Bengal. Prior to this, a crude bomb was recovered from a mango orchard in the Malda district. Three children collecting mangoes had gone into the garden when one of them picked up an object mistaking it for a fruit and tried placing it inside a bag, triggering a massive blast. The accident, which left three children injured, took place in the Behannabigha area under the English Bazar police station limits, where police confirmed the object was a crude bomb that detonated upon being touched.
Discovery of Multiple Live Bombs in Birbhum
In another similar episode, a large cache of live bombs was recovered near a bamboo thicket in Kote village under the jurisdiction of the Mallarpur police station in West Bengal's Birbhum district. Finding multiple explosives lined up near the bamboo bushes created deep terror and panic among locals. According to police sources, approximately 31 live bombs were retrieved from the site. That incident had surfaced amid political turbulence following the announcement of assembly election results in West Bengal on May 4.
