The ill-fated sightseeing flight was carrying members of a Colombian family who had traveled to Rio de Janeiro to celebrate a relative's 15th birthday. The group consisted of six family members in total, but because the aircraft could accommodate only three passengers per trip, they divided into two separate groups. During the flight over the dense forest canopy, the helicopter went down, instantly killing all four people onboard. The deceased include the helicopter's pilot and three Colombian women from the same family: the birthday girl's grandmother, her aunt, and her cousin.
Mayor Proposes Temporary Ban Amid Safety Concerns
The crash occurred in the vicinity of Chineza, a prominent landmark inside Tijuca National Park known for its picturesque bamboo pagoda.
