Addressing the escalating confrontation, Rahul Gandhi took an uncompromising stand in a public message. From Jantar Mantar to Akashvani Bhawan: Capital Confrontations
The capital has emerged as the epicentre of demonstrations, with opposition Members of Parliament staging an anti-Gyanesh Kumar protest at Jantar Mantar. Pan-India Mobilisation Against the Chief Election Commissioner
The Congress party has escalated its institutional offensive under the banner of the 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao' campaign, organising nationwide demonstrations to demand the election chief's ouster. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee raised serious questions over the conduct of SIR, asserting that the exercise was intended to assist the Bharatiya Janata Party, and pledged that agitation will persist until Kumar resigns. Meanwhile, civil rights group CJP organised massive protests in Mumbai, where thousands joined the call for accountability, while activist Ashutosh Ranka announced nationwide actions from 2 October. CJP has further planned demonstrations across Goa, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. In southern India, NSUI students gathered at Bengaluru's Freedom Park, insisting that their agitation would continue until the authorities hold the official accountable.
Public Reaction
The post triggered widespread debate across social media channels, with public opinion deeply polarised. While numerous supporters applauded the confrontation as a courageous defence of voting integrity and the Constitution, several critics challenged the party's motives, arguing that attacking constitutional bodies undermines democratic stability.
