Jharkhand's Government-Run Flying Institute Opens Air Hostess Admissions, Deadline July 31

The Jharkhand government run Jharkhand Flying Institute has opened admissions for certificate and diploma courses to train air hostesses, flight stewards and ground handlers, with applications open until July 31, 2026.

Ranchi has some good news for young aspirants who want to build a career as an air hostess, flight steward or ground handler. The Jharkhand Flying Institute, which is run by the Jharkhand government, has opened admissions for its aviation and hospitality training programmes, and applicants no longer need to shop around at expensive private academies. The state government's initiative is aimed at strengthening the aviation sector and creating fresh employment opportunities for the state's youth. Candidates can apply until July 31, 2026, after which selection will be based on three factors, merit in Class 12 examinations, a personal interview and English speaking ability.

Course Options And What The Fees Cover

The institute currently runs four training programmes spread across certificate and diploma levels. The six month certificate course in Aviation and Hospitality covers training for air hostesses, flight stewards and ground handlers together, and it has been priced at Rs 1,00,500. For those who want a longer, more intensive programme, a one year diploma course is also available, again covering Aviation and Hospitality training for air hostesses, flight stewards and ground handlers, with fees set at Rs 1,55,500. Neither fee is limited to tuition alone. Both amounts bundle in registration charges, study material, uniforms, examination fees, a grooming kit, and even swimming and fitness training, so candidates will not need to make separate payments for these components.

Eligibility Rules On Age, Height And Tattoos

The institute's advertisement states clearly that applicants must not have a tattoo on any visible part of the body, a condition spelt out explicitly in the eligibility criteria. There is also an age requirement, candidates must be between 18 and 27 years of age as on July 1, 2026. On physical standards, women candidates need a minimum height of 157 centimetres while men need a minimum height of 170 centimetres. The academic bar, however, is not steep, a Class 12 (10+2) pass in any stream is sufficient for all four training programmes, with no restriction on subject choice.
