Tata Motors has implemented a price revision for its highly popular electric compact SUV, the Punch EV, effective from September 2026. This adjustment reflects the changing cost dynamics in manufacturing. Buyers planning to purchase this electric vehicle will now have to shell out up to Rs 20,000 more depending on the variant they choose. The price hike specifically targets both battery capacity models, making the electric SUV range start from Rs 9.79 lakh and go up to Rs 12.99 lakh for the ex-showroom prices.
Variant-Wise Price Distribution
The price hike has been structured based on the battery pack sizes. Variants equipped with the smaller 30 kWh battery pack have seen a uniform price increase of Rs 10,000. On the other hand, the larger 40 kWh battery pack variants have become pricier by up to Rs 20,000. For buyers looking at specific variants, the entry-level Smart 30 kWh model is now priced at Rs 9.79 lakh, while the Smart+ 30 kWh variant costs Rs 10.39 lakh. Moving up to the larger battery options, the Smart+ 40 kWh variant is priced at Rs 11.19 lakh, and the Adventure 40 kWh model stands at Rs 11.94 lakh. The premium Empowered 40 kWh variant is now available at Rs 12.69 lakh, whereas the top-of-the-line Empowered+ S variant reaches Rs 12.99 lakh. Additionally, the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model remains an option, offering an attractive starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh. This pricing adjustment comes months after the introduction of the facelifted model in February 2026, with the primary driver behind this revision being the rise in overall input costs.
Exterior Design and Aesthetics
Despite the upward price adjustment, the visual appeal of the Punch EV remains one of its biggest selling points. The modern facelift design gives it a futuristic and robust stance on the road. At the front, the SUV features a sleek closed-off grille structure that highlights its electric nature, accompanied by headlamps housed in bold black surrounds. A centrally positioned charging inlet adds to the convenience of plugging in, while a silver skid plate completes the aggressive front profile. The rear of the vehicle is equally striking, featuring connected LED tail-lamps and a heavy grey cladding that enhances its muscular look. Riding on 16-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and offering a generous ground clearance of 195 mm, the vehicle is well-suited for both daily city commutes and light off-road weekend getaways.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle continues to offer a premium experience with a dual-tone color theme, refreshed seat designs, and updated trim finishes across the dashboard. The high-spec trims are packed with modern technology, headlined by a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that seamlessly supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers are greeted by a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Comfort features are abundant, including ventilated front seats for hot summer days, an electric sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, a 360-degree camera system for easy parking, customizable ambient lighting, and an automatic climate control system. Furthermore, connected car technology and voice assist capabilities are integrated to make driving more interactive.

Safety is a major focus for this electric vehicle, with a robust set of standard safety features across all trim levels. Every variant of the SUV comes equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), hill-hold assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors. Those opting for the higher-end variants get advanced driver assistance aids, including a blind spot monitor, an electronic parking brake featuring an auto-hold function, and hill-descent control for safer steep declines.
Power, Performance, and Battery Range
The mechanical setup is split between two battery options. The 30 kWh LFP battery pack is paired with an electric motor that produces 88 bhp of power and 154 Nm of torque. For those seeking more performance, the larger 40 kWh pack steps up the output to 129 bhp while maintaining the same 154 Nm of torque. This larger battery setup allows the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 9 seconds. Range anxiety is minimized with an ARAI-certified range of around 375 km for the 30 kWh battery, and a substantial 468 km for the 40 kWh variant. When it comes to charging speed, the vehicle supports 65 kW DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 26 minutes. To sweeten the deal, Tata Motors offers a lifetime battery warranty on the 40 kWh version.
