Safeguarding Kharif Cultivation Against Weather Hazards
In Nagaur, Kharif farming remains highly susceptible to unpredictable weather patterns. To mitigate these risks, PM Fasal Bima Yojana serves as a crucial financial shield for farmers. According to agriculture expert Bajrang Singh, timely enrollment and maintaining accurate documentation can secure farmers against massive crop losses during natural calamities, enabling them to prepare for the next season without financial strain.
July 31 Deadline for Non-Loanee Farmers
For non-loanee farmers who have not taken a KCC loan, the final date to apply for crop insurance is July 31. Applications can be submitted through local e-mitra kiosks, authorized banks, financial institutions, or directly via the crop insurance portal. While loanee farmers with active KCC accounts are enrolled automatically by their respective banks, they are strongly advised to verify their insured crop details to avoid mismatches.
Modify Incorrect Records by July 29
A major reason crop insurance claims get rejected is the mismatch between the actual crops sown in the field and the crop listed on the insurance application. Bajrang Singh warned that any errors in crop registration must be corrected by July 29. Furthermore, farmers must ensure that their bank accounts are active and properly linked with Aadhaar, Janaadhar, Girdawari, and updated land revenue records.
Crops and Natural Disasters Covered Under the Scheme
The PM Fasal Bima Yojana covers severe scenarios like droughts, prolonged dry spells, floods, waterlogging, hailstorms, cyclones, lightning, forest fires, and pest infestations. A total of 23 major Kharif crops, including bajra, jowar, maize, moong, moth, guar, urad, chawla, arhar, sesame, soybean, cotton, paddy, and peanut are eligible for insurance coverage. Additionally, horticulture crops such as green chili, onion, tomato, tinda, castor, pomegranate, orange, dates, kinnow, and mehendi are covered, although the exact list of notified crops may vary across different districts.
