Criminals in Bihar have once again openly challenged law enforcement by orchestrating a daring robbery. A jewelry shop located in the Barh sub-division of Patna district was targeted by a group of armed, masked assailants. The four perpetrators held the shopkeeper captive at gunpoint, forcing him to surrender substantial amounts of cash and precious gold and silver jewelry before making their escape.
The incident
The robbery took place at Maa Ambe Jewelers, situated under the jurisdiction of the Samayagarh police station in Barh. The shop owner, Chandan Kumar, stated that the four masked individuals entered the premises around 7:00 PM. Once inside, they brandished firearms to intimidate him. When the owner resisted, the attackers struck him with the butt of a weapon, leaving him injured. According to the owner, the gang fled the scene while firing shots into the air after clearing the shop's cash and inventory. Authorities estimate the value of the stolen goods and cash to be approximately 7 lakh rupees.
Police response and investigation
The brazen nature of the crime prompted an immediate response from local officials. The Rural SP and the SDPO arrived at the site to inspect the scene and initiate a formal investigation. SDPO Ramkrishna confirmed that police are examining all facets of the crime. Surveillance footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being analyzed to identify the suspects, and police teams have launched raids in an effort to apprehend the culprits involved in the heist.
The suspects' escape
According to local villagers, the four suspects fled the area on two motorcycles immediately after completing the robbery. While the Station House Officer (SHO) of Samayagarh, Saurabh Kumar, attempted to pursue the gang upon receiving word of the crime, the suspects managed to escape toward Kondi via the Bhadaur route.
Atmosphere of fear
The incident has left the residents and business owners of the Samayagarh market in a state of alarm. As a bustling marketplace serving residents from roughly ten surrounding villages, the shopkeepers are now fearful for their safety. Murlidhar Singh, a representative for the local village head, noted that the robbery has instilled a sense of terror among the local merchant community, raising serious concerns regarding security in the region.
