A harrowing double murder has sent shockwaves through the Rjaso village in the Bidupur police station area of Vaishali district, Bihar. An Indian Army soldier, identified as Jitendra Kumar, who was home on leave, and his father were fatally shot in a brutal attack. Jitendra Kumar was currently posted in Delhi and had returned to his village following the tragic death of a relative due to electrocution. During his stay, a long-standing dispute regarding a pathway and land ownership between the family and the accused erupted into fatal violence.
The Sequence of Events
According to the family of the victims, a verbal altercation occurred between the accused, Jagdish Rai, and Jitendra Kumar on Saturday evening over the disputed path. Local police were notified and intervened at the time, managing to calm both parties down and temporarily de-escalating the situation. However, the respite was brief. On Sunday morning, the accused launched a fresh and deadly attack. It is reported that the assailant opened fire indiscriminately, striking both Jitendra Kumar and his father, Munarik Rai. Munarik Rai succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the critically wounded Jitendra Kumar was rushed to the Sadar Hospital. Despite immediate medical efforts, he could not be saved.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Upon receiving news of the incident, officials from the Bidupur police station and senior officers arrived at the location to secure the scene. Police gathered evidence and sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations. Following the attack, the accused and his family fled their residence. Sadar SDPO Subodh Kumar confirmed that the primary motive appears to be the land and pathway dispute. The authorities are investigating all angles of the case and are conducting continuous raids to track down the suspects. Officials have expressed confidence that the perpetrators will be apprehended shortly.
