In a rare and astonishing turn of events in Manopur village, located in the Begusarai district of Bihar, a local family has claimed that their son, who was believed to have died from a snakebite nearly 12 years ago and whose body was consigned to the Ganga river, has returned home alive. The mystery unfolded when the young man was spotted begging for alms in the streets of his native village. Upon noticing his physical resemblance and intimate knowledge of private family details, the household recognized him as their long-lost child. However, no independent administrative agency or scientific investigation has yet officially verified the young man's identity or his 12-year absence.
Events from 12 Years Ago Following the Snakebite
According to details shared by the family members, Rahul Kumar, a resident of Manopur village, was bitten by a venomous snake approximately 12 years ago. The father possesses an Aadhaar identity card recording Rahul's date of birth as 1 January 2005. Immediately following the snakebite, young Rahul's medical condition deteriorated rapidly. The venom caused abnormal changes around his eyes, throwing the entire household into panic and anxiety. Alongside seeking medical attention, the family, adhering to local traditions, brought the boy to a local Bhagat for traditional faith healing and rituals.
Despite these efforts and initial care, the boy's health collapsed, and the family claimed he succumbed to the condition. Following traditional Hindu funeral customs, the family consigned his body to the waters of the sacred Ganga river. Several close relatives and villagers attended the final rites at that time, firmly believing that the child had passed away.
Sudden Reappearance as a Begging Monk in the Village
The situation took a dramatic turn nearly 12 years later when an unfamiliar young man arrived in Manopur village seeking alms. While moving through the neighborhood, he happened to stop outside the very home of the affected family. As the family members observed his demeanor, physical stature, and facial features, they immediately recalled the memory of their lost son, Rahul. The visitor's facial structure and physical appearance closely matched that of the young boy they had lost years ago.
Rahul's mother, Kavita Devi, stated that the young man's facial features and the distinct marks around his eyes bore an undeniable resemblance to her son. When the family began interacting with him, the youth not only identified his parents and relatives instantly but also disclosed confidential family matters that would be impossible for a stranger to know. These detailed revelations convinced the family beyond doubt that he was indeed their missing son.
Claims of Drifting to Mokama Ghat along the Ganga
Upon his return, the young man shared a remarkable account of his 12-year journey and survival. He explained that after his body was consigned to the river 12 years ago, the strong currents of the Ganga carried him downstream from Begusarai to Mokama ghat. At Mokama, a holy Sadhu spotted his floating body, pulled him out of the river, and managed to revive his breathing through desperate efforts, thereby saving his life.
The youth further explained that following his rescue, he resided at the Sadhu's shelter in Mokama for a prolonged duration. After living there for several years, he recently departed from the shelter and reached his native village of Manopur, where he began asking for alms near his family home. Reaffirming his claim, the father, Rampreet Das, mentioned that he contacted the Sadhu in Mokama via telephone. During the conversation, the Sadhu reportedly confirmed that the young man had indeed been staying with him in Mokama for many years.
Support from Relatives and Eyewitnesses
Other family members have voiced strong support for the parents' claims regarding the youth's identity. Rahul's uncle, Lalo Sada, clarified that he personally attended the funeral proceedings 12 years ago and witnessed the body being consigned to the river after the family presumed the boy dead. However, after examining the returning youth's facial features and specific body marks, he concurred that the young man is indeed Rahul Kumar.
Overcome with emotion, mother Kavita Devi expressed her sincere desire that if the youth is truly her son, he should give up his ascetic lifestyle, stay at home with the family, and lead a normal life. The family views the entire incident as a divine miracle and a rebirth of their son.
Unanswered Questions and Lack of Official Verification
While the family remains overjoyed and has fully accepted the young man as their long-lost son, several significant questions remain unanswered. The primary question revolves around how a child declared dead following a snakebite could survive floating in the river. Furthermore, details regarding his exact whereabouts throughout the 12-year period beyond his stay in Mokama remain unverified.
Additionally, the precise role of the Sadhu in Mokama and whether any scientific evidence exists beyond the telephonic conversation with the family remain unknown. Definitive answers to these unresolved issues can only emerge once official investigations and scientific identification procedures, such as DNA testing, are conducted.
