In the Bihar Legislative Council election for the Patna Graduate constituency, Janata Dal United candidate Neeraj Kumar has emerged victorious. Although the formal official declaration remains pending, the clear electoral outcome has triggered sharp political exchanges. Following his victory, Neeraj Kumar attributed his success to the relentless ground effort of party workers while expressing gratitude toward party chief Nitish Kumar and Nishant Kumar.
Barbs Exchanged Over Bail and Muscle Power
Fresh from his electoral success, Neeraj Kumar launched a scathing attack against expelled JDU lawmaker Anant Singh. Taking aim at earlier remarks, Neeraj pointed out that someone who is currently out on bail himself had been making boastful claims about getting opponents' deposits forfeited. Mimicking his rival's typical speaking style, he remarked that sweets should now be taken away, adding mockingly that the sweets prepared by his rivals turned out to be salty.
Highlighting his modest background, Neeraj Kumar remarked that a person ought to be an object of envy rather than an object of pity. He pointed out that he comes from a poor family and possesses neither money power nor muscle power. However, he maintained that when it comes to the committed strength of grassroot workers, nobody holds an advantage over him.
Insufficient Preparation Time Cited for Electoral Loss
Following Neeraj Kumar's victory, expelled legislator Anant Singh conceded defeat, stating that the electorate is the ultimate master and equivalent to God. Observing that winning and losing are regular facets of electoral contests, Anant stated that he lacked sufficient time to register and prepare voters, which led directly to his defeat.
Anant Singh maintained that people across Bihar hold immense affection for him, stressing that he respects the party and will continue to do so. In his interactions, he repeatedly clarified that he harbors no grievance against the party itself, and that his resentment is directed solely at Neeraj Kumar. Consequently, he affirmed that he would not be offering any congratulatory messages to Neeraj.
