A mysterious case of two minor sisters going missing has emerged from Munger, Bihar, causing significant distress to the local community. The girls, 15-year-old Sonali Kumari and 13-year-old Babita Kumari, are daughters of Shyam Malakar and hail from Lohara village in the Haveli Kharagpur block. They left their residence under the pretext of heading to different destinations but failed to return home by evening, prompting a desperate search by their family members.
Details of the disappearance
According to family members, the two sisters departed from their home separately. The elder sister, Sonali, stated she was going to school, while the younger sister, Babita, claimed she had to visit the hospital. When neither girl arrived home as expected by the evening, the family grew anxious and began inquiring about their whereabouts. A breakthrough in the search occurred after they questioned a friend of the sisters, Fulmani Kumari, which led to a startling revelation.
Claim of leaving for Delhi
During the inquiry, it was revealed that Sonali had been in frequent contact with a youth named Sonu Kumar, a resident of Lakshmipur in the Jamui district. The friend, Fulmani Kumari, informed the authorities that she received a phone call from Sonali around 8 PM on Friday night. Sonali reportedly claimed that they were currently in Ara and were about to board a train headed for Anand Vihar in Delhi. Furthermore, Sonali allegedly stated that they would never return home again. Shortly after this communication, both of their mobile phones were turned off, raising immediate alarms.
Police investigation
Based on the family's complaint, a named FIR has been registered at the Tetia Bamber police station against Sonu Kumar, accusing him of abducting the two minor sisters. Following the incident, the girls' mother, Renu Devi, is inconsolable, while their grandfather, Bhuneshwar Malakar, is anxiously awaiting their safe return.
Upon receiving news of the incident, DSP Anil Kumar visited the village to gather details personally. Tetia Bamber Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar Kehri stated that the police are actively analyzing call detail records and mobile locations. A technical team has been mobilized to track their movements. The police are also coordinating with Jamui law enforcement to conduct raids at potential locations. Additionally, investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. The police have expressed confidence that the two minor sisters will be recovered safely soon.
