Ravish alias Basiya, the main accused in the high-profile Bunty Yadav murder case and a notorious criminal, was injured in a police encounter in Patna on Thursday. The encounter took place on a dirt track leading to Bans Ghat within the Buddha Colony police station area, where a police team had gone searching for him.
How the encounter unfolded
Ravish opened fire as soon as he spotted the police team. His bullet struck the bonnet of the government vehicle belonging to the Kotwali police station in charge, and the policemen inside narrowly escaped injury. Police fired back in self defence, and the bullet hit Ravish in his right leg. He has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital, known as PMCH, for treatment. Police recovered his slippers and a country made pistol, locally called a desi katta, from the spot.
Who is Ravish alias Basiya
Ravish had been on the run for a long time before the encounter and had turned into a major headache for the police. Several serious cases, including robbery, extortion and attempt to murder, are registered against him. Police had intensified the search for him after his alleged involvement in the Bunty Yadav murder case came to light.
Background of the Bunty Yadav murder case
According to news reports around the Bunty Yadav murder case, the alleged mastermind behind the conspiracy is a transgender person, and the murder plot is claimed to have been hatched on that person's instructions. That angle is being probed separately, even as Ravish was treated as the case's main accused on the ground. Police are now working to establish who else was involved in the killing and exactly how the conspiracy was planned.
