Panic gripped the Kailu Bigha neighborhood in the Masaurhi area of Patna district on Wednesday after a 35-year-old school teacher was found brutally murdered inside the bedroom of her residence. The deceased, identified as Lakshmi Devi, was employed at Pothahi Middle School. The discovery of her body in a pool of blood sparked shock among local residents. Upon receiving information about the incident, law enforcement authorities arrived at the scene and established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to solve the case.
Absence From School Raises Alarm
The tragedy came to light when Lakshmi Devi failed to report for her teaching duties at Pothahi Middle School on Wednesday morning. Noticing her unexpected absence, the school principal attempted to contact her by placing several calls to her mobile phone. When none of the calls were answered, the principal grew concerned about her safety and promptly notified her family members about the situation.
Following the call from the principal, relatives rushed to her house located in Kailu Bigha. Upon entering the residence, they discovered Lakshmi Devi lying motionless in a pool of blood inside her bedroom. The family immediately reported the crime to the Masaurhi police station, prompting swift action from local law enforcement personnel.
Police Inspection and Investigation Details
Upon being informed of the crime, Masaurhi SDPO Raghav Dayal led a police contingent to inspect the location. Forensic and police teams examined the premises, secured potential evidence from the bedroom, and sent the body for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Initial physical observations made by officers at the scene suggest that the assailant used a sharp-edged weapon to inflict fatal injuries.
SDPO Raghav Dayal stated that while preliminary findings indicate an attack involving a sharp weapon, the exact motive behind the murder has not yet been determined. Investigating officers are reviewing surveillance camera recordings from neighboring buildings and access routes to identify any suspicious individuals present in the area before or after the crime.
SIT Deployment and Family Background
Given the grave nature of the offense, senior police authorities have constituted an SIT to accelerate the investigation. The team is analyzing technical evidence, mobile call records, and statements from local residents to identify potential leads. Officials expressed confidence that technical analysis and interrogations would lead to a prompt resolution of the case.
The deceased teacher leaves behind a family based in different regions for professional and educational reasons. Her husband, Gyanchand Choudhary, is posted with the Road Construction Department in Tekari within Gaya district. Her son, Gaurav Kumar, is pursuing engineering studies in Kota, Rajasthan, while her daughter, Shikha Kumari, is enrolled in an MBA program in Kolkata, West Bengal. Police are continuing their probe into all possible angles surrounding the circumstances of her death.
