A chilling crime has surfaced from Bedhna village in the Barh police station jurisdiction near Patna, Bihar, where four young men were murdered after being served liquor laced with lethal poison. The shocking incident, which took place on August 30, triggered widespread panic across the locality, prompting law enforcement to launch an intensive investigation that solved the case within 48 hours. Addressing a press conference, Patna Rural Superintendent of Police Kundan Kumar disclosed that the gruesome mass murder was fueled by a long-standing romantic dispute and deep-rooted personal enmity. Authorities have apprehended the primary conspirator, Lali Kumar, along with a local vegetable vendor named Rudal Kumar who aided in procuring the poison, while also detaining a minor accomplice in connection with the crime.
Premeditated Poisoning Spiked into Alcohol
According to the detailed findings of the police investigation, the key accused, Lali Kumar, executed a meticulously planned conspiracy by inviting the four youths to gather for a drinking session. Prior to their arrival, Lali had purchased deadly poison from the market and mixed it thoroughly into the liquor intended for his guests. Shortly after consuming the contaminated alcohol, all four victims suffered severe physical distress under suspicious circumstances and subsequently succumbed to the poison. To establish concrete legal and scientific evidence of the crime, police investigators have secured viscera samples from the deceased along with liquor residue recovered from the scene, forwarding them to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for comprehensive chemical analysis. Rural SP Kundan Kumar emphasized that the FSL findings will provide official confirmation regarding the specific toxic chemical compound utilized in the murder.
Two-Year Love Affair and Retaliation Against Taunts
Interrogations conducted by the police brought to light the underlying motive behind the horrific killings. The deceased Nishu Kumar had been involved in a romantic relationship with the sister of the main accused, Lali Kumar, for the past two to two-and-a-half years. This relationship had been a source of friction between the parties involved. Nishu Kumar and his close companions frequently mocked and taunted Lali Kumar regarding the affair, deeply humiliating him over an extended period. Driven by resentment and revenge over these persistent taunts, Lali Kumar conspired with his associates to eliminate Nishu and his friends. Police noted that while initial investigation angles pointed toward retaliation over testimony in a prior court case, rigorous questioning eventually led Lali Kumar to confess that the murder was committed solely out of vengeance over the romantic affair and continuous mocking.
SIT Formation and Swift Arrests Within 48 Hours
Recognizing the gravity of the fourfold murder, the Barh police administration immediately constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising station house officers from multiple local police stations alongside specialized personnel from the District Intelligence Unit (DIU). Leveraging technical intelligence and localized informant networks, the SIT executed rapid raids across suspected locations, successfully apprehending the prime suspect, Lali Kumar, within 48 hours of the incident. Law enforcement also arrested Rudal Kumar, a local vegetable vendor who played a crucial role in acquiring the poison used in the crime.
