A devastating road accident occurred in the Gaya district of Bihar late Wednesday night, claiming the lives of two individuals who were burnt alive. The incident took place around 1:30 AM near Sijua village under the jurisdiction of the Bodh Gaya police station on the Dobhi-Patna four-lane highway. A high-speed collision between a car and a truck turned into a tragedy when the car instantly erupted into flames upon impact. The intensity of the crash left the occupants with no opportunity to escape, resulting in their tragic death within the burning vehicle.
The driver of the car sustained severe burn injuries in the accident. With the assistance of local residents and the police, the driver was rescued from the wreckage and rushed to the Magadh Medical College and Hospital for urgent medical treatment, where they remain under care. Upon receiving reports of the collision, a team from the Bodh Gaya police station arrived at the scene. Despite strenuous efforts to extinguish the fire, the car was completely destroyed by the time the flames were contained. Police recovered two charred bodies from the vehicle and transferred them to ANMMCH for post-mortem examination.

Authorities are currently working to establish the identities of the deceased. During the search of the vehicle at the accident site, investigators recovered empty liquor bottles from inside the car. The police are exploring the possibility that the occupants may have been under the influence of alcohol, which might have hindered their ability to react or escape during the emergency. Preliminary reports indicate that a ten-wheeler truck laden with fertilizer was entering the four-lane highway from the service lane, moving against the flow of traffic, when it was struck by the speeding car. Immediately following the collision, the driver of the truck abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The police are now conducting an extensive search for the absconding truck driver. Additionally, officials are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to reconstruct the sequence of events.
