According to details of the incident, Vishal Kumar and Abhishek Kumar, residents of Dedaur village in the Bakhtiyarpur police station area, had gone to Seedhi Ghat on Wednesday evening to attend the sacred Ganga Aarti ceremony along the banks of the Ganges. Upon the conclusion of the ritual, both friends boarded their motorcycle to ride back home. However, as they navigated the road leading past the residence of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, armed miscreants who were hiding in ambush launched a surprise attack, firing multiple rounds without warning.
During the rapid gunfire, one bullet struck Vishal Kumar in the back, while another bullet lodged in Abhishek Kumar's stomach. Despite suffering grave injuries and bleeding heavily, the two youths exhibited remarkable courage. They abandoned their motorcycle at the crime scene and managed to reach the nearby Community Health Centre in Bakhtiyarpur on foot. Attending medical personnel administered preliminary emergency treatment, but given their critical condition, doctors promptly referred both victims to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for specialized care.
