Tripura has earned top honors on the national stage by being named the overall best-performing state in the small state category under the Pradhan Mentri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. The recognition celebrates the state government's continuous efforts to foster entrepreneurship among grassroots manufacturers, local business owners, and community-level networks.
National Conclave and Award Ceremony
The official announcement took place during the PMFME Conclave 2026, which ran on August 24-25 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan handed over the prestigious trophy to the state representatives at the venue. The gathering served as a major platform for stakeholders from across the country to discuss strategies for boosting industrial growth and regional economic development.
Empowering Self-Help Groups and Small Enterprises
The award underscores Tripura's dedication to uplifting micro-enterprises and Self-Help Groups through targeted administrative support. Under the PMFME framework, local participants receive vital assistance ranging from business formalization and skill enhancement to financial credit accessibility and broader market penetration. These structured interventions have successfully transformed the rural and urban manufacturing landscape across the region.
Milestone for Regional Development
The Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission hailed the national accolade as a major milestone for local administrative bodies and community workers. Officials noted that the collective drive of government departments and grassroots entrepreneurs has built a resilient ecosystem for food processing. In a public statement shared online, the mission emphasized that such conclaves encourage stakeholders to expand support for micro-enterprises and inclusive economic growth.
