The main opposition Congress party has announced a massive statewide agitation named 'Sugar Satyagraha' targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government. Drawing a direct historical parallel to the famous Salt Satyagraha of the Indian freedom movement, Congress aims to rally public support against the rising cost of essential commodities.
Congress Prepares Statewide Agitation Campaign
To finalize the execution of the Sugar Satyagraha, the Congress State President chaired an organizational meeting and issued comprehensive directives to party workers. Party leaders asserted that the protest will serve as a platform to amplify public frustration over inflation across all districts of the state. Congress charged that the 'double engine government' at the Center and state has burdened the public with severe inflationary pressures.
Party strategists argued that historically, citizens have always united during times of national challenges. Just as the colonial-era Salt Satyagraha mobilized the masses against British policy, Congress plans to deploy this new movement against the current administration's economic policies, scheduling demonstrations and public gatherings across Chhattisgarh.
Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap Slams Opposition Campaign
Countering the opposition's campaign, senior tribal leader and Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap launched a stern critique against Congress. Minister Kashyap stated that the opposition lacks genuine public issues and is resorting to politics of misinformation to stay relevant. He emphasized that the historic Salt Satyagraha was conducted strictly in the national interest, whereas Congress is merely exploiting global commodity price fluctuations for narrow political gains.
Addressing the underlying cause of rising sugar prices, Kedar Kashyap noted that ongoing global conflicts have exerted severe pressure on international economies, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully managed and sustained India's economic stability. He further questioned why Congress failed to perform satyagraha when major financial scandals took place during its own terms in governance.

The government maintained that the electorate is well aware of political posturing. Minister Kedar Kashyap expressed confidence that after losing power, Congress is attempting to spread confusion, but the public will not be misled by such agitations.
