A distressing incident has surfaced at the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer, where a resident doctor has been accused of misbehaving and committing inappropriate acts with a female attendant whose child was admitted to the pediatric ICU. The incident triggered severe backlash from the family members, who staged a massive protest outside the ward after immediate administrative action was delayed.
Allegations of Luring the Mother Out on the Pretext of Medicine
According to the family, their child was suffering from pneumonia and was undergoing treatment in the pediatric ICU, with the child's mother staying by his side in the hospital. Around 9 AM, resident doctor Shubham allegedly instructed the woman to step outside on the pretext of administering medicine to the child. Once she came out, the doctor reportedly followed and subjected her to inappropriate behavior and harassment.
Outrage Over Delayed Action by Hospital Authorities
The victim and her relatives promptly reported the matter to the hospital administration at around 9 AM. However, the family alleged that despite filing an early complaint, no action was taken for hours. Frustrated by the inaction, the relatives lost their patience and began a vociferous protest outside the ward at approximately 2 PM.
Three-Member Committee Formed to Probe the Matter
Upon receiving word of the commotion, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Arvind Khare and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Amit Yadav rushed to the scene to speak with the aggrieved family. A police contingent was also deployed at the hospital to maintain order. To investigate the episode, the administration constituted a three-member committee comprising Dr. Sanjeev Maheshwari, Dr. Kalpana अग्रवाल (Agrawal), and Dr. Beena Thada. The accused resident doctor fled the scene following the incident.
Suspension Recommended Based on Preliminary Findings
Later, a meeting was held in the chamber of Hospital Superintendent Dr. Arvind Khare, involving the administration, police, and the family. During the discussions, the relatives accused the hospital management of attempting to suppress the matter and intimidating them. The situation calmed down only after persistent intervention and counseling by the police and administration. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Arvind Khare stated that while the final report of the probe panel is still awaited, CCTV footage and preliminary findings clearly indicted resident doctor Shubham, prompting the administration to forward a recommendation for his suspension to higher authorities. Meanwhile, the family stated they would also lodge a formal police complaint for further legal action.
