Weather conditions across the mountainous terrain of Uttarakhand have shifted dramatically. The peaks facing the town of Joshimath in Chamoli district have witnessed the first snowfall of the season. In addition, the high-altitude ridges surrounding Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers have received fresh snow, bringing a sharp chill to the atmosphere.
Rainfall and Temperature Drop in Lower Regions
The unseasonal snowfall, coupled with continuous downpours, has triggered a noticeable drop in temperatures across the lower valleys and plains. Persistent rainfall in Chamoli district has severely disrupted normal daily life. Due to rain-induced blockages, more than a dozen roads remain closed, while authorities continue efforts to clear and restore the routes.
Weather Department Issues Alert for Seven Districts
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for seven districts across the state. An alert has been sounded for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Udham Singh Nagar. Authorities have also issued a yellow alert forecasting intense showers in isolated pockets over the next twenty-four hours.
