A chilling crime has shaken the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, where a father was allegedly murdered by his own teenage daughter and her boyfriend. The incident, which took place in Ramwapur village under the Chhawani police station jurisdiction, came to light after the victim failed to return home, prompting his nephew to launch a frantic search. The 52-year-old victim, Krishna, earned his livelihood through daily wage labor. Police stated that his 17-year-old minor daughter, Durga alias Ladli, had been in a relationship with a youth named Laxman from the neighboring Babharauli village for the past two years. The father's persistent objections and strict oversight regarding this romance ultimately served as the motive for the fatal attack. Authorities have taken both accused individuals into custody and launched a comprehensive investigation.
Two-Year Relationship Met With Resistance
According to police findings, the romantic involvement between Durga and Laxman had been ongoing for roughly two years, much to the dismay of Krishna, who strongly opposed the affair. Around two months prior to the incident, Krishna had caught the two in a compromising position and attempted to counsel his daughter. He had even considered arranging their marriage once she reached legal age, but her minor status made that impossible. Despite parental interventions, the relationship continued in secret, culminating in violent confrontation when the father caught them together again.
Fatal Confrontation in a Sugarcane Field
The tragedy unfolded on the evening of August 21 when Durga went to meet Laxman near a graveyard adjacent to a sugarcane field in Babharauli village. Coincidentally, Krishna was grazing goats nearby and stumbled upon the pair. Upon hearing rustling and discovering them together, an argument ensued. Police reported that Krishna attempted to strike Laxman with a wooden staff, but Laxman dodged the blow. Enraged, the minor daughter and her partner launched a coordinated assault on Krishna, striking him multiple times with a sickle-fitted staff, causing his death on the spot. To conceal the crime, the duo bound the body with a gamchha cloth and hid it in a nearby canal.
Nephew Unravels the Dark Mystery
Concerns mounted when Krishna did not return home by late evening, leading his nephew Ajay to begin searching for him. After failing to locate his uncle through conventional inquiries, Ajay questioned Durga about her father's whereabouts. Police noted that under sustained questioning, the daughter broke down and confessed to murdering her father with the help of her boyfriend. Upon receiving the alert, police teams from Chhawani and Duboulia rushed to the scene. The victim's body was recovered and dispatched for a post-mortem examination. Both suspects remain in police custody as interrogation and legal proceedings continue.
