With the arrival of the festive season, local police authorities in Kota have stepped up security measures across the city. To protect citizens and the large number of women who visit local markets for festive shopping, law enforcement has deployed an extensive surveillance network. A total of 734 cameras have been installed across various parts of the city, feeding live footage directly to the Abhay Command Center in Kota for continuous monitoring.
Round-The-Clock Monitoring From The Command Center
Additional Superintendent of Police and Abhay Command Center In-charge Soji Lal Meena stated that all 734 cameras currently operational in Kota are streaming live feeds. The police maintain a close watch on key locations, busy intersections, hospitals, and bus stands. Crowded areas where shoppers gather in large numbers are kept under constant observation through these digital lenses. To manage this massive surveillance operation, a team of four personnel is stationed at the Abhay Command Center twenty-four hours a day, keeping a vigilant eye on urban activities.
Special Drone Units And Women Patrol Squads Deployed
To further reinforce security, the city police recently inaugurated a special unit known as the Divya Drishti drone squad. This unit comprises five drones that are deployed in densely populated zones and areas considered vulnerable to criminal activities. In the event of any suspicious occurrence, the drone operators immediately alert the central control room or the concerned Station House Officer. Additionally, the Kalika women safety unit patrols the city every evening. When an emergency call is received at the control room, the team is instantly dispatched to assist women in distress.
Plainclothes And Uniformed Personnel On Alert
Soji Lal Meena explained that the monitoring team at the Abhay Command Center actively tracks incidents and has previously intervened in cases involving robberies, illegal weapons, and NDPS actions. If a complainant approaches the command center directly, details are promptly verified, and preventive actions such as freezing accounts are initiated before the formal First Information Report is filed at the local police station. Looking ahead to the upcoming Diwali celebrations, police officers and Kalika personnel are deployed in both civilian clothes and official uniforms to deter potential crimes and ensure public safety.
