Authorities in Delhi have apprehended a man accused of fatally stabbing his wife in the Dwarka area following a domestic dispute over alleged infidelity. The altercation escalated rapidly after the woman confronted him regarding suspicions of an extramarital relationship. Following the incident, the accused fled the scene and managed to evade custody until investigators traced him to Sector-20 in Dwarka.
Violent Clash in Palam JJ Colony
The incident occurred on September 27, when a police control room call was logged at 4:49 PM reporting a stabbing near the Kali Mata temple in JJ Colony, Palam. Responding officers identified the victim as 30-year-old Sonia. She was rushed to Indira Gandhi Hospital, where attending medical personnel declared her dead on arrival due to the severity of her injuries.
Initial inquiries revealed that Sonia had questioned her husband, Pradeep, regarding allegations of an extramarital affair. A heated argument ensued, during which Pradeep retrieved a butcher knife and attacked her. The assault resulted in multiple severe wounds to her chest and neck, which proved fatal before medical assistance could save her.
Surveillance Leads to Accused's Apprehension
Immediately after the fatal attack, Pradeep absconded from the locality. Based on testimony provided by an eyewitness at the scene, a formal case was registered at the Palam Gaon police station. The crime branch took over the pursuit, deploying both manual tracking and technical surveillance to establish the suspect's movements.
On October 2, law enforcement officers received specific intelligence detailing his exact hideout. Acting swiftly on the lead, the police team intensified operations and intercepted him in Dwarka. During subsequent questioning in custody, Pradeep admitted to his involvement in the crime.
History of Marital Discord and Ongoing Inquiry
According to police records, the couple had married in 2017 and share two sons. Their marital relationship had reportedly been strained for an extended period, marked by frequent arguments centered around accusations and mutual suspicion of extramarital relationships.
Pradeep, a native of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, operated a modest biryani stall and also worked as a dhol player to earn a livelihood. Law enforcement officials have stated that custodial interrogation is ongoing to recover the weapon used in the offense and to reconstruct the complete sequence of events leading up to the homicide.
