A high-voltage drama unfolded on Tuesday morning in Naori village, located under the jurisdiction of the Sen Pashchim Para police station in the Kanpur South commissionerate, when a local resident climbed onto his first-floor balcony railing with a rope tied around his neck, demanding immediate police action and justice.
The incident began around six in the morning when Shyam Sundar locked his wife Gomati and their three children inside the house by shutting the main gate. He then tied a rope to the balcony railing and placed a noose around his neck, refusing to budge until authorities registered an FIR based on his grievances.
Six Hours of Negotiation and Fire Brigade Deployment
Upon noticing the alarming situation, panicked neighbors immediately alerted local law enforcement. A team from the Sen Pashchim Para police station rushed to the scene and began negotiations to safely bring the man down. As the hours ticked by and the man refused to relent, a fire brigade team was also summoned to the location as a precautionary measure.
Throughout the six-hour standoff, the police and emergency teams kept talking to him to prevent any tragedy. To substantiate his claims, the man played several old audio recordings to the gathered crowd and police officers, claiming they contained evidence supporting his allegations.
Grievances Stemming From a Year-Old Dispute
According to the man's claims, the dispute began about a year ago following a clash with his neighbor Rambabu, which resulted in a case being filed against him. He alleged that he was manhandled inside the police station during that period and claimed he had submitted around two dozen petitions to various authorities, including the Chief Minister's public darbar, over the past year without receiving proper recourse.
Police officials noted that the allegations leveled by the man would be thoroughly verified through a proper investigation. Law enforcement stated that further legal steps would be determined only after examining all facts connected to the dispute and the day's events.
Resolution After FIR Copy is Presented
The tense hours finally came to an end when the police accepted his written complaint and formally registered a case. Officers then showed him the physical copy of the FIR as proof. Convinced that his demand had been met, Shyam Sundar stepped off the railing and safely ended the protest.
Ghatमपुर ACP Krishnakant stated that an inquiry is underway regarding the various allegations made by the individual. The administration is reviewing all aspects of the situation while local residents continue to discuss the lengthy standoff that disrupted the area.
