Federal law enforcement in the United States has apprehended Himanshu Bhau, one of India's most wanted and elusive criminal figures. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough for security agencies that had been tracking his extensive network across Delhi and Haryana. Known widely in underworld circles by the moniker 'Chhota Don', the young fugitive had managed to orchestrate numerous violent crimes before fleeing overseas. Authorities are now preparing formal legal channels to extradite him back to India to face multiple pending charges.
From Juvenile Facility to Underworld Kingpin
The trajectory into organized crime began early for Himanshu, who entered the criminal underworld at just 17 years of age following an initial stint in a juvenile correction facility during his childhood years. He quickly mastered the art of executing offenses and evading law enforcement capture, allowing him to build a formidable reputation within a remarkably short span. Law enforcement bodies including the Delhi Police, Haryana Police, and the National Investigation Agency accumulated numerous serious charges against him, encompassing murder, attempted murder, and extortion.
High-Profile Shootings and Gang Enmities
Operating in stark opposition to the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar syndicate, Himanshu aligned closely with rival factions led by Neeraj Bawana and the Bambiha gang. Hailing originally from Retoli village in Rohtak, Haryana, he was frequently recognized locally by his native moniker Himanshu Retoli. His syndicate claimed responsibility for a brutal series of three murders committed within a span of 24 hours in Haryana in 2022. Furthermore, his name surfaced prominently in connection with incidents such as firing at Elvish Yadav's Gurugram house, as well as a high-profile murder inside a Burger King restaurant and extortion-related shootings targeting various fitness center owners.
International Escape and Red Corner Notice
The fugitive's history of escaping custody includes a dramatic breakout from a juvenile correctional home alongside approximately 20 other inmates. Facing roughly 50 criminal cases in Haryana alone for offenses ranging from extortion to homicide, his reach extended across multiple jurisdictions. After initially escaping to Portugal, he relocated to the United States from where he continued directing his criminal operations back home. Due to his persistent evasion, Interpol issued a Red Corner Notice against him in 2023 alongside supplementary lookout circulars.
