A massive crackdown has been launched in the national capital to curb rising vehicle theft cases, leading to a significant breakthrough for local law enforcement. Operating within the jurisdiction of the West District, police teams executed a high-intensity drive that resulted in the recovery of numerous stolen conveyances and brought relief to several affected vehicle owners.
Operation Chakra 2.0 Strategy
According to the local police leadership, the initiative was officially designated as Operation Chakra 2.0. The primary objective behind this focused drive was not merely to track down missing automobiles, but also to clamp down firmly on the criminal elements responsible for these offenses and bring them to justice. The entire operation was executed using a systematic track, trace, and recover approach, ensuring that stolen assets were methodically located and secured.
Deployment of Thirty Teams
To execute the mission effectively, approximately 30 distinct teams drawn from 12 police stations were deployed on the ground starting October 21. The intensive operations continued through October 24, during which law enforcement personnel established tight cordons around areas known for high vehicular movement and frequent theft incidents. Investigators meticulously analyzed numerous closed-circuit television recordings from locations where vehicles had previously vanished.
Diverse Seizures Including Scooters and Bikes
At the conclusion of the 72-hour campaign, authorities had successfully impounded a total of 185 stolen conveyances. The recovery inventory comprised 117 scooters and 65 motorcycles, with the latter figure including 17 high-speed motorcycles. Additionally, one auto-rickshaw and two four-wheeled cars were recovered during the searches. Records indicated that 91 of these seized items were stolen directly from the West District, while the remaining 94 originated from various other parts of Delhi. The respective police stations concerned have been duly informed regarding these recoveries.
Arrest of Suspected Autolifters
Alongside the recovery of property, the intensive three-day operation resulted in the apprehension of 46 suspected autolifters. Authorities noted that further inquiries are underway to determine the wider scope of their illegal operations and identify potential accomplices.
Returning Assets to Rightful Owners
Law enforcement officials are currently addressing the procedural challenge of identifying the legitimate owners of the recovered vehicles. Necessary legal formalities and verification processes are being expedited so that each vehicle can be handed back to its rightful owner in a timely manner.
