A domestic helper has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly stealing expensive diamond jewelry from the residence of Asha Patel, the mother of Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel. The arrest took place approximately eight months after the valuable ornaments, estimated to be worth around Rs 5 lakh, vanished from the house. The Marine Drive police are currently handling the case and are making active efforts to recover the stolen items.

Suspicion and Police Complaint

The accused has been identified as Seema Vinod Ghate, a forty-year-old resident of Virar. She had been employed as a house help at Asha Patel's home for nearly one and a half years before the incident occurred. The valuable diamond bangles went missing in January this year. Upon discovering the loss of her precious jewelry, Asha Patel initially suspected her domestic helper. She questioned Seema Vinod Ghate about the missing ornaments on multiple occasions. However, the maid consistently denied any involvement in the theft, leaving the family without clear proof of what had transpired.
