Railway Police in Gwalior Intercept Human Trafficking Route, Free Four Myanmar Women Brought from Bangladesh Camp

Police in Madhya Pradesh have rescued four women from Myanmar, including two minors, who were smuggled into India from a refugee camp under the guise of marriage.

Railway police in Madhya Pradesh have intercepted a cross-border human trafficking operation, rescuing four women from Myanmar who were brought into India through unauthorised routes under the pretext of arranging marriages. Investigators also detained two Myanmar nationals who were facilitating their transit across states. Among the four individuals rescued during the operation, two have been identified as minors and subsequently placed in protective care under legal protocols.

Interception on Swarna Jayanti Express

The operation unfolded after the government railway police control room in Bhopal shared an alert regarding a suspicious foreigner travelling in the unreserved coach of train number 12643, the Swarna Jayanti Express. The intelligence indicated that the individual was connected to an organised network that brings women into the country for forced or arranged marital arrangements. Acting on this input, a police team led by station in-charge Deepshikha Singh Tomar boarded the train at Gwalior and initiated a search operation. Officers matched the physical description to apprehend 25-year-old Mubeen, a native of Myanmar who had been residing in Hyderabad, along with female passengers accompanying him.

Raid in Aligarh Leads to Further Recoveries

During preliminary interrogation, Mubeen disclosed that his associate, 35-year-old Mohammad Hasan, was stationed in Uttar Pradesh. Hasan was reportedly sheltering additional women inside a rented accommodation in Aligarh. Acting on the confirmed intelligence, the railway police dispatched a team to Aligarh to raid the premises. Officers detained Mohammad Hasan and secured the remaining women present at the site. With this secondary action, the total count of rescued females reached four, with assessments confirming that two of them are underage.

Overcoming Language Barriers with Translation Tools

Interrogating the rescued individuals presented an operational challenge, as the women spoke only Rohingya and their local dialect, possessing no familiarity with Hindi or English. To bridge this communication gap, investigators relied on Google Translate alongside the assistance of a bilingual interpreter. Through this combination of digital tools and manual translation, officers recorded their formal statements, uncovering the precise methods utilised by the traffickers.

Trafficking Route from Kutupalong Refugee Camp

Statements gathered from the victims revealed that they were taken from the Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh. The facilitators cited purported parental consent before moving them across borders through treacherous terrain, navigating rivers and hilly areas to enter Indian territory illegally. The suspects were intending to transport these women to Jammu and Srinagar for marriage arrangements. Authorities noted that this points toward a structured human trafficking syndicate preying on displaced communities in refugee settlements by exploiting vulnerabilities with false marriage promises.

Legal Action Initiated Against All Detainees

All six foreign nationals apprehended in the operation were found to be residing in India without valid legal authorisations. The two adult male suspects are facing statutory proceedings, while custody arrangements for the minor girls adhere to juvenile welfare norms. Police are currently scrutinising seized documents and interrogating the accused to trace other intermediaries and handlers linked to this interstate racket.
